Version 7.2.0.0 – NT Scouting

Hello national team / u20 coaches,
hello nt/u20 scouts and
hello all national team interested users,

during the last weeks we have worked on different topics in our national team scouting platform in hattrick youthclub.

Scouts can use hattrick youthclub to search for youth players who are candidates for the u20 or nt team. They can manage the players in favorites lists and keep track of them during their youth career. Thus they can help the owners to train the players in the best way for future fielding in nt or u20.

Scouts of  many different nations are already using hattrick youthclub to scout the players as early as possible. Some of them have contacted me and we have discussed different ideas how to improve youth player scouting in HY. Some of these ideas we already have implement and released in the last weeks:

  • character information in excel export
  • colorizing of skills known from twins
  • a table indicating the last match a player can be fielded in the u20 world cup

On the following topics we have worked lately and release them today:

  • In the past the u20 or nt coach had to define all scouts for a country. Now they can define a chief scout, who has the right to define the scouts for the country as well. With the start of each season the chief scout has to be defined again!
  • In the past the scouts were only able to work with players who are known in HY, meaning that they could only add players of users who are using HY to their favorites lists. Now they can also add players who are not managed in HY, but they have to make sure that they update the skills of the players themselves. The major advantage is, that the scouts can now manage all relevant youth players in a single list, there is no more need to merge the hy list with the manual list.
  • Additionally the scouts do now have the option to make their lists public and to show them to all managers in HT. They can configure who can access the list. HY managers who does not like that the private information of their players (skills, etc) are visible on the public lists can disable that. Of course HY managers still have the option to deny scouting access to their players at all.

We really hope that this will help the national teams with scouting in HY. If your country is not already using HY for scouting, they should definitely check it out. The importance of scouting in HY could be highlighted by the success of the nations, where many people use HY and the scouts are active, in the last u20 worldcups (http://www.hattrick-youthclub.org/site/worldcup).

Special thanks to manager Baumschubser (chief scout of Germany) and his team (especially BAB185) for being patient enough for discussing with me over and over again the whole scouting topic.

Cheers,
Markus

  • Hi there

Thank you for a job well done :c)

However, there is one thing I have been missing all the time I have been a scout, and that is the ability to sort all the listed players of a manager into one list, and also to be able to see to which of the managers teams the players belong. The reason for this is that in a small ht-nation like my own, we have several players from some teams in the favourites lists, and in some cases several players from both the first and the second team of a manager.

    Best regards

    • Hi Rageliasen,

thank you for your feedback. Since we have spent a lot of time into scouting lately it is not a secret when I tell you, that our next projects will not be related to the scouting topic.
Nevertheless we are still interested in collecting new ideas for the next round of scouting updates. Thus your suggestions are very welcome.
Right now I am not sure if I got your suggestion. You wrote “that is the ability to sort all the listed players of a manager into one list”. Do you mean you like to add all players of a team into a favorites list with a single click?
You also wrote “to be able to see to which of the managers teams the players belong”. I am not sure what is more useful. Showing the team’s name or the manager’s name. The column is a bit tight to display both information. What are your thoughts about that?

      Cheers,
      Markus

  • Hi again and thanks for your swift reply :c)

“Do you mean you like to add all players of a team into a favorites list with a single click?”

No, I mean to be able to extract all players of a manager from all my favorites lists into one page in order to get a good overview of his players. Maybe via a “search box” where you type the managers name and then get his players from all the favorites lists displayed…

The reason for my wish is to make it easier to assist the managers with advice on which players to focus on, which training to choose etc…

For the same reason it would be a good idea to be able to see to which of the managers teams the displayed players belong. There are a lot of managers with both their teams in the same country.

“Showing the team’s name or the manager’s name. To put both into the column would be a bit tight.”

No need to display the full team name. “Team 1” for example would suffice. Or maybe an icon or a symbol…

    Best regards

    • Hi Rageliasen,

“Showing the team’s name or the manager’s name. To put both into the column would be a bit tight.”. I just released a new HY version which includes a change in the favorites lists. The team name is shown on the tables and excel exports now. But please note, that for manually inserted players (players who are not managed in HY) it only works for players who got inserted after I released the new version. So if you want to have this information for older players as well, you have to remove them and insert them again.

“No, I mean to be able to extract all players of a manager from all my favorites lists into one page in order to get a good overview of his players. Maybe via a “search box” where you type the managers name and then get his players from all the favorites lists displayed…”
I do not see that this is something a lot of people / nations do need. Thus I will not implement it right now. But I can offer an alternative to you: You can export the list and then use Excel and it’s autofilter to do what you like.

      Cheers,
      Markus

      • Thanks a lot Mackshot. HYC is an amazing tool, and just got a whole lot better :c)

Good idea to use Excel export. Thanks for the tip :c)

        Best regards

      • Hi again

I just noticed that all the players seem to belong to the first team…
Would it be possible to display the name of the team that the player actually belongs to?
